OneDrive can be used to share files with Weill Cornell Medicine faculty, staff, and students. WCM users are also able to share files with peers at our major affiliate institutions, including NYP, MSKCC, Rockefeller University, Cornell University, and HSS ( view our full list of affiliates). OneDrive is the preferred method for storing WCM high-risk data, like PHI and PII. OneDrive offers mobile applications and sync clients however, offline file synchronization is only permitted on encrypted devices which are tagged and managed by ITS. (Note: Windows PCs must be ITS-tagged in order to access OneDrive.) OneDrive can be accessed via any web browser by going to with your CWID and password, then clicking the OneDrive tile. The OneDrive sync client can be installed on your laptop, desktop, phone and/or tablet to let you access files from any device. It allows you to store, share, and collaborate on files in the cloud. OneDrive cloud storage is offered as part of WCM’s O365 suite. We recommend using OneDrive for your storage needs, particularly if you intend to store data which contains PHI/PII. Please note that, while no timeline has been set, ITS plans to transition to Microsoft OneDrive as our official cloud storage solution and will retire Box.
